Every year, in anticipation of holiday shopping, I run a special report on all games that have appeared in the data I’ve collected quarterly from BGG since January 1. Most of these games have already shown up in the quarterly reports, but sometimes a game will advance in the rankings too slowly for me to catch it in a snapshot. A few showed up before January 1, because sometimes a game will continue advancing gradually for a while (particularly as it works its way to the very top). And there are definitely a few games here that are old but that show up because they were recategorized or whatnot.
